Questions & Band 9 answers
So the place I'd absolutely love to visit is a forest park called Cúc Phương — it's Vietnam's oldest national park, tucked away in the northern mountains, maybe a couple of hours' drive south of Hanoi. I first stumbled across it, funnily enough, through a nature documentary a friend of mine sent me on a whim, and after that I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole reading travel blogs and watching clips people had filmed there, so by now I feel like I half know it already even though I've never actually set foot in the place.
From what I gather, it's this vast stretch of ancient rainforest, absolutely blanketed in trees — some of them are these enormous, thousand-year-old giants with roots that sprawl out like something from a fairy tale. Apparently the canopy is so thick that when you're walking the trails it feels like dusk even at midday, and the whole place is teeming with wildlife: langurs, hornbills, thousands of butterflies in the wet season.
The reason it pulls at me so much is that, honestly, I live in a fairly grey, congested city, and I'm glued to a screen all day for work, so the idea of switching off completely and just breathing that cool, damp forest air really appeals to me. There's also a rescue centre there for endangered primates, and I've always had a soft spot for animals, so being able to see conservation happening firsthand — that would genuinely be a dream come true for me.
