So the job I'd love to describe is being a documentary filmmaker — specifically someone who makes those slow, thoughtful nature and travel documentaries you'd see on the BBC or Netflix. I've been obsessed with that world ever since I was a teenager glued to David Attenborough's programmes.

In terms of the skills you'd need, it's actually a real mixed bag. Obviously you've got to have a good eye — a sense of framing and light — but honestly, I think the storytelling side matters even more. You need to be able to take hours and hours of raw footage and shape it into something that actually moves people. On top of that, you'd need bags of patience, because you might sit in a hide for three days just to get thirty seconds of an animal doing something interesting. And people skills too, since you're constantly working with local crews and communities.

Ideally, I'd love to be out in the field rather than stuck in an edit suite — somewhere remote and a bit wild, like the highlands of Vietnam or the fjords in Norway. That said, I wouldn't say no to a cosy studio when it's time to piece it all together.

The reason it's my dream job, though, comes down to this: I once filmed a tiny clip of my grandmother telling an old folk tale, and watching people get completely swept up in it — that gave me such a buzz. Getting paid to tell stories that stay with people? Honestly, I can't imagine anything more fulfilling.
