Câu hỏi & bài mẫu Band 9

Do you like keeping old things? Why or why not?
Bài mẫu Band 9

Yeah, I'm quite sentimental that way, so I tend to hold onto things that carry a memory rather than just clutter. A ticket stub or an old birthday card can instantly take me back to a particular moment, and I find that oddly comforting. That said, I do try to draw the line at stuff that's purely gathering dust.

What is the oldest thing your family still keeps?
Bài mẫu Band 9

Probably my grandmother's old sewing machine — it's this heavy, cast-iron thing that must be pushing seventy years old. It hasn't worked properly in decades, but nobody would ever dream of throwing it out because it's basically a family heirloom at this point. It sits in the corner of the living room like a little monument to her.

Do you prefer to keep old things or throw them away? Why?
Bài mẫu Band 9

Honestly, it depends on what it is — I'm all for decluttering when it comes to random junk, but anything with sentimental value I'll keep without a second thought. I'd rather have a smaller pile of things that actually mean something than drawers crammed with stuff I never look at. So I suppose I'm selective rather than a hoarder.

Do you think it is important to keep old things? Why or why not?
Bài mẫu Band 9

I do, up to a point, because old objects are like little anchors to your past — they keep memories alive in a way photos sometimes can't. For instance, my dad still has the watch his father gave him, and passing something like that down the generations feels genuinely meaningful. But I wouldn't say you should cling to everything; it's really about holding onto the things that tell your story.
