Travelling and Holidays

Oh, absolutely, I'm a bit of a travel junkie, to be honest. There's just something about landing in a place where you don't know a soul and having to figure everything out from scratch that makes me feel really alive. I think it also gives you a bit of perspective on your own life back home.

My most recent trip was down to Da Nang for a long weekend. I mainly went for the beach and the food, honestly, but I ended up spending a whole afternoon wandering around the old town in Hoi An nearby, which completely stole the show. It was one of those spur-of-the-moment getaways that turned out way better than I'd planned.

Japan is right at the top of my list, hands down. I'm really drawn to how they manage to blend this ultra-modern, high-tech side with all these centuries-old traditions that are still very much alive. My dream would be to go in autumn and catch the maple leaves changing colour up in the mountains near Kyoto.

I'd say I'm happiest on a fairly relaxed beach holiday, but with a bit of exploring thrown into the mix. Just lying by the pool for a whole week would drive me up the wall, so I like to balance the lazy mornings with some day trips to see the local sights. That mix of winding down and actually experiencing a place is my sweet spot.

It really depends on the destination, but I tend to be a fairly active traveller. I'll usually spend the mornings out and about, sightseeing or hunting down little local eateries, and then keep the afternoons free to just kick back and do nothing in particular. Last time, for instance, I got completely hooked on trying a different street-food stall every single evening.
