Your Hometown

I'm originally from a mid-sized city in the north of the country, tucked along a river about an hour's drive from the coast. It's not really on the tourist map, but it's got that classic mix of an old, sleepy town centre and newer suburbs sprawling out around it.

Honestly, it's best known for its food — there's a particular noodle dish that people will genuinely travel a couple of hours just to eat. Beyond that, it has a bit of a reputation for being a laid-back, friendly place where nobody's ever in much of a rush.

I'd say it's fairly quiet on the whole, especially compared to a big capital. The traffic dies down by mid-evening and the streets feel pretty peaceful — although, to be fair, the morning market can get incredibly lively and chaotic, so it does have its noisy pockets.

Yeah, I'm genuinely fond of it. The pace suits me — everything's within reach, I bump into people I know, and there's none of that big-city stress. If I'm being picky, I do sometimes wish there were more going on in terms of nightlife, but that's a small trade-off for how comfortable life is here.

What I love most is the sense of community — it really does feel like everyone looks out for each other. For instance, my elderly neighbour keeps an eye on my flat whenever I travel, no questions asked, and that kind of quiet kindness is something you just don't find in most bigger cities.
